Summer Enrichment Writing Workshop
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Summer Enrichment Writing Workshop (SEWW) is designed to help incoming freshmen who are placed into a preparatory writing course advance their writing placement before coming to UIC in the fall. Structured as an online workshop, SEWW gives students the opportunity to write projects in two different genres; brush up on their grammar, note-taking, critical reading, and study skills; work with the online learning platforms used at UIC; and learn about the drafting and revising process that's crucial to success in English 160. Students who placed into ENGL 060, ENGL 070, or ENGL 071 as a result of the Writing Placement Exam will have the chance to petition for a higher course placement through a writing portfolio process at the end of the workshop. In SEWW, you will get to know your instructors, gain experience in the writing you'll be doing in your first year, and get familiar with UIC so you'll begin the fall semester fully equipped to succeed!
