President’s Award Program & Sukuma Scholars: The Academy
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Typically, the Academy is a fun and interactive one-day session that will share information regarding the President’s Award Program scholarship requirements, policies and expectations. This year, students will be participating in the Academy via Blackboard. There, students will be introduced to concepts, resources and skills necessary for successful learning in higher education which will help to facilitate adjustment and engagement into a new learning environment, the research university. Students will virtually meet faculty and staff who will share strategies for success in college! Please carefully read this entire webpage!
PROGRAM DATES
You are expected to complete the Blackboard course on your own time by the deadline. There are some dates that will require your virtual attendance such as the Scholars Overview and Summer College Lecture Day. Attending those events may require Zoom participation, more information will be provided via email. Attendance is mandatory to maintain scholarship eligibility.
LOCATION
WHO SHOULD REGISTER?
Attendance is mandatory for all incoming freshmen designated as PAP Scholars for the Fall 2020. Please be advised that the PAP or Sukuma scholarship can and will be removed from your UIC Financial Aid award package and will no longer be available if you do not complete the Blackboard Academy session and participate in the Scholars Overview.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PAP ACADEMY
REGISTRATION
This will be held in Blackboard. Please make sure that you have submitted your ITE as well as accepted the PAP or Sukuma scholarship in order to have access to the class on Blackboard. Failure to submit your ITE and/or accept the scholarship will result in your scholarship removal.
