President’s Award Program: PAP Academy

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The PAP Academy is a fun and interactive one-day session that will share information regarding the President’s Award Program scholarship requirements, policies and expectations. Students will be introduced to concepts, resources and skills necessary for successful learning in higher education which will help to facilitate adjustment and engagement into a new learning environment, the research university. Students will meet faculty, staff and current students who will share proven strategies for success in college and life! Please carefully read this entire webpage!

 

PROGRAM DATES

PAP Scholars are required to register for and attend one of the following sessions:

Session 1: June 26
Session 2: July 3
Session 3: July 10
Session 4: July 17
Session 5: July 24
Session 6: August 14

 

PROGRAM DAYS AND TIMES

Mondays
9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Please register for only one session. You are expected to attend the session you register for. Attendance is mandatory to maintain scholarship eligibility.

Location: Lecture Center C4

 

WHO SHOULD REGISTER?

Attendance is mandatory for all incoming freshmen designated as PAP Scholars for the Fall 2017. Please be advised that the PAP scholarship will be removed from your UIC Financial Aid award package and will no longer be available if you do not register and attend a PAP Academy session.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PAP ACADEMY

PAP Scholars are also required to attend the following Summer College events: Lecture Day on Monday, July 10. Attendance will be taken at this event. In addition, students are expected to register and attend one session of Seminar Days that will run during the 3rd and 4th weeks of Summer College. You may register for a seminar of your choice at my.uic.edu. Please make sure your seminar does not conflict with your PAP Academy date.

For your convenience, UIC housing is available to all students attending Summer College at a special rate. You may go to the Summer College Housing website at: summercollege.uic.edu/housing/.
