Making the Connection: The Research University and You

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Office of Undergraduate Research is offering a series of two related one-day events to help you “make the connection” at UIC. Are you leaving high school with a network of friends and/or mentors and wondering how you will establish the same in college? Would you like to get to know supportive and inspiring faculty members before the first day of class? Are you unsure what major to declare or interested in exploring subjects beyond your declared major? Do you have a passion you want to pursue in college but don’t know where to begin? Do you wonder what it means for your future that you will be graduating from a large research university? This event will include faculty guest speakers, a research site visit, resource tutorials, and network-building experiences that will activate your creative and academic curiosity and connect you in stronger ways to UIC as a community of learning and discovery. Once you enroll, you will receive a schedule so you can pick and choose which site visits and information sessions are most relevant to you. (Attendance at all events on both days will not be mandatory, although it is strongly recommended.)
