Council on Teacher Education: CTE IGNITES

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Teaching is one of the most important, and rewarding, career paths a college student can pursue. Teachers help to shape the future of the country by inspiring a love of learning in their students. The Council on Teacher Education is offering a one-day seminar designed to provide incoming freshmen with information and experiences that will motivate, encourage and support their interest in pursuing teaching as a profession. CTE IGNITES (Inspiring & Guiding New Illinois Teacher Education Scholars) will help students majoring in an educator preparation program, get a jump start on achieving their goals.

Attendees will:

Discover how teachers make a difference in the lives of students
Learn the joys of teaching from experienced educators working in the field
Enjoy leadership and team-building activities
Explore UIC campus life and resources
Network with current students and faculty from UIC’s Teacher Education Programs
Develop a plan for fulfilling the requirements for licensure in the state of Illinois
Gain first-hand information about financial resources available to individuals completing a teacher preparation program in the state of Illinois
